Berg Insigh predicts a significant increase of NFC-payments by 2017

Tue 11 Jun 2013

According to new research by Berg Insigh, the growth of NFC phones will increase by 65% every year to reach 2.1 billion units in 2017. Currently billing service "mobile wallet" that allows users to make payments using a mobile phone with NFC, is available in 13 countries, while in 2011 it was only 6 countries. Although this payment solution is only at the stage of development and is not available to many users, experts argue that this situation will change substantially in the next few years. This is due to the increase of NFC phones production, the development of POS-terminals accepting NFC payments and TSM (Trusted service manager) solutions.
