Visa and MasterCard have signed an agreement with the French anti-monopoly committee. Due to this, the payment systems will reduce their interchange fees in France by almost half.

Under the agreement, Visa and MasterCard will charge the merchants a commission which is not more than 0.28% of transaction amount. This is 49% less than MasterCard charged to date, and 44% less than Visa current commission.
