While U.S. courts deal with Bitcoin cases, the Royal Canadian Mint is developing its own virtual currency called MintChip.

Although the press did not inform about initiatives of state institution, the Mint conducted a competition among developers to create applications for the use of MintChip, and plans to pilot them later this year. DonRiver, one of the digital wallet providers for banks and telecommunication companies, predicts the combination of mobile payments and virtual currencies in the nearest future.
