The volume of card fraud in Europe is 1.5 billion euros per year – Europol

Thanks largely to the adoption of EMV technology, the European Union saw a decline of card fraud, but it remains high - 1.5 billion euros a year. The report by cybercrime center of Europol says that despite the increase in the number of credit and debit cards in the EU - more than 726 million - the level of card fraud in the region was gradually falling since 2008 due to widespread adoption of chip and pin codes.
